About

Welcome to Real Green Living! I am so glad that I can share my passion for environmentally sustainable living with you.

When I was a little girl, I really wanted to be a vet. I loved animals and didn’t realize that being a vet wasn’t the only option for working with them. Well, I ended up going to school for environmental management instead and learned so much about how the natural world works.

I started to feel a little ashamed though. Here I was, spewing ideals of a better world, and yet I had never made an active effort to reduce my own environmental impact. Every time I decided to start though, I found a reason to put it off. It was too hard. To be environmentally friendly I would have to completely overhaul my life. And that was just too much.

I finally realized though that doing ANYTHING was better than doing nothing. By doing one small thing, then adding one one more small thing at a time, eventually you end up completely rearranging your life in a more sustainable way, and it really wasn’t that hard at all.

And the best part? Being green overlaps quite a bit with being frugal, and it saves me a TON of money every month. Though that’s just the icing on the cake.

That’s why I started my blog. To show people how easy it is to make little changes every day that add up to making a big difference. So on my blog you’ll find articles about waste reduction, homemade products and gardening.

Just a little bit about me. I live in a small town in northern Ontario with my boyfriend and our dog, Aspen. When I’m not busy working, I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, snowshoeing, you name it. I’m a HUGE reader, so let me know what your favourite books are so that I can check them out!
